Let’s go over your findings. I want to let you know before we go over the results, there are a number of findings that concern me even more than increased body weight and I will explain everything in great detail. Let’s start with the Body Composition Assessment. Keep in mind, we will be doing this assessment every seven days to ensure you are on track with the program. Let’s dive into the findings. You can follow along with your report and I will guide you with these presentation slides (ML310). Make sense? Great.


Muscle-Fat Analysis

We are going to begin by talking about the amount of body weight, muscle tissue and fat tissue you have on your body. This chart here shows total body weight on top, muscle mass in the middle and body fat on the bottom. We want the middle, the muscle, to be the longest line. Therefore making a “D shape”, for “Desirable”, like in this example. If the muscle is the shortest line, then it would be in a “C shape” where “C” stands for Crisis. What shape is your graph in? Okay, you are in crisis. This is what we want to change. Questions?

% Body Fat

In this section, we are going to focus on the bottom number, percent body fat. Your body fat is currently __________________. This is concerning because at this level you are more prone to numerous chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes but also joint arthritis that can cause disability in the future. I’m sure you know people who have trouble walking, getting out of a chair or going up a flight of stairs. If you know people with a disability than you know you definitely don’t want to go down that path. Now, I know you are here because you want to lose weight but do you have any questions about your current level of body fat? Based on your current body fat percentage, it would take approximately ___ months to reach an ideal body fat percentage using the MetaLife program.


Visceral Fat

More concerning than the total body fat is the visceral fat. Visceral fat is not the fat directly under your skin that you can pinch, but the fat that is very deep around your organs. The danger of visceral fat is due to its ability to release hormones that cause inflammation, which in turn can damage arteries causing heart disease and it can even affect how your body breaks down sugars and fats making weight loss even harder. Visceral fat is dangerous because it is linked to the following disease states:


  • Diabetes


  • Stroke
  • Heart Disease
  • Breast Cancer
  • Colorectal Cancer
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Dementia
  • Coronary Artery Disease
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • Sleep Apnea*



*Increased visceral fat has been associated with the occurrence of obstructive sleep apnea, since deep abdominal fat can restrict the movement of the diaphragm and limit lung expansion.

Under 10 is normal and over 10 is abnormal. What is your number?
That is very concerning, we need to bring that number down.

BMR/Muscle Mass/Segmental Muscle

The number one factor that determines your metabolism, which is the engine of your body that burns calories, is muscle tissue. We talked a moment ago about your muscle mass but it is important to understand the more muscle tissue you have the more calories you burn at rest. The less muscle tissue you have, the less calories you burn at rest AND the more weight you will gain. Does that make sense? Great.

One pound of muscle at rest will burn more calories than one pound of fat at rest. However, one pound of ACTIVE muscle burns more than “resting” muscle because after activity it goes into a “recovering” or “repair” mode which burns more calories. Here is one of the more important things to remember, a recovering muscle will burn 2-3 times the calories that resting muscle will burn and probably 4-5x the calories resting fat will burn. Your Basal Metabolic Rate is 1200 which means your body burns 1200 calories at rest. This number will help customize your program by dictating how many calories you will consume.

I am concerned because your muscle mass is below healthy levels. When you have lower muscle mass, you have to be careful doing weight loss programs that do not monitor muscle mass because you can not afford to lose muscle. As we mentioned in the MetaLife program, we monitor muscle mass on a weekly basis. By nature, during any weight loss program you can lose a small amount of muscle but without monitoring your numbers, you risk losing a significant amount of muscle tissue. In addition, it is important to understand that less muscle and more fat is one of the fastest ways to degenerate your knees, your hips and your low back forcing you to have knee replacement, hip replacement and back surgery. Looking at the breakdown of muscle of the different areas of your body it is evident that you have very low muscle tissue in your  _________________ and this can be addressed in your program. Body-Water Analysis

This ratio is an important indicator telling us whether the water in your body is balanced between how much water is inside your cells and how much it outside your cells. More of the water should be inside the cells. The normal range falls between 0.360 to 0.390. If the ratio is closer to 0.360, you have healthier cells with more water and nutrients inside versus outside your cells. It is common for athletes, or those with an excess of muscle mass, to have a lower ratio (close to 0.360) which is not concerning. We are most concerned when the number goes too high. If the ratio falls closer to 0.390, you have more water retention and body inflammation. However, it can be caused by dehydration so you need to make sure you stay well hydrated to get the most accurate reading during your follow up assessments. If you are well hydrated, the cause is more likely to be excess toxins in your body or high inflammation.

Lab/BP Testing

Let’s see how your body composition imbalances are affecting the inside of your body and your overall health. The lab testing will explain your cholesterol levels, your triglyceride levels and blood sugar levels and your levels of inflammation.

The LDL is the bad cholesterol and the HDL is the good cholesterol. Low levels of HDL, the good cholesterol, is as dangerous as high levels of the bad cholesterol. HDL of 60 mg/dL or higher is associated with a less than average risk of heart disease. LDL should be less than 100 mg/dL. What readings do you see on your report?

The triglycerides are fat in your blood. The more triglycerides you have the thicker the blood is and the harder it is to pump around your body. Your triglyceride levels should be less than 150 mg/dL. What are your levels? I don’t like that number. It means your blood is considerably thicker than it should be forcing your heart to work harder to get the blood pumped around the body.

Blood sugar levels should be less than 100 mg/dL. When they increase beyond normal levels it is a sign of potential diabetes, increased inflammation and will cause major disturbances of hormones. What is your blood sugar level?  That is not good. We have to work to bring down that number. I don’t like that number at all.


Your CRP should be less than one and yours is _______________ which means that you have excessive inflammation in your body. That is not good.

Scorecard – Confirm Need

The doctor will put all of the information collected into a MetaLife Scorecard where you will receive two numbers: your Metabolic Score and your Quality of Life Score. We want your Metabolic Score to be low and your Quality of Life Score to be high. The Metabolic Score tells us if you need the program and the Quality of Life Score tells us how much impact the program can have on your quality of life.

In regards to your Metabolic Score, yours is a ______ which is a severe metabolic imbalance. In addition to the metabolic imbalance, the Quality of Life Score was only average and we can expect that to increase during the program as well. Based on all the objective testing, the MetaLife program is something we strongly recommend, and from what we can see, if you are compliant on the program we expect you to achieve amazing results.


MetaLife Difference

Let’s talk about the differences between MetaLife and common weight loss programs and then we will get into the program specifics. Sound good? Then we will review your MetaLife Journal and discuss those issues with you. We will talk about the weekly lesson that you completed via video and talk through your worksheet. Then we will open it up for any final questions that you have.

This is an amazing nationwide community of people that are on the same journey as you with the same goals that you have. You will receive amazing inspiration from others and it is a place that you can post and inspire others with your journey.
